What is Permaculture?
Definition: A design science that imitates nature to create abundance systems..
Essentially, it’s being conscious of the use of your resources; food, water, energy, etc.
This consciousness of our basic human needs gives us the knowledge we need to live a sustainable life with little to no effect on the environment.
Why is Permaculture Important
Originally known as “permanent agricultureâ€; permaculture has developed from a set of efficient ways of gardening, into a full blown designing philosophy and self-sustaining lifestyle; or “permanent cultureâ€. This efficient and natural way of life is designed to find ways for humans to live within their environment rather than living around it. Designing an ecologically sound garden can save you a lot of work, save on resources, and almost completely eliminate waste. Nature has already found all the most efficient ways to thrive. The food is grown and the waste products of all plants create the soil for the garden. The process goes round and round as the ultimate recycler. The effects of most of the worlds living systems are causing serious issues for the environment. Whether it be the melting of the ice caps, the island of trash in the pacific, or the destruction of the ozone layer, change is imminent and we need a solution now. Permaculture is not only the methods to creating a thriving garden, but might also be the only solution to save a ailing planet.
